Seton Hall basketball Coach Bobby Gonzalez has been given a contract extension that runs through the 2014-15 season, the Big East school said Thursday.
Seton Hall Director of Athletics Joe Quinlan didn't say how much Gonzalez would be paid for staying another three years but called the deal a strong indicator of the university's commitment and support
for the coach.
We expect to be successful and believe that Coach Gonzalez has taken the necessary steps to position our program for future success,
Quinlan said. He has made progress with the program in only three years and we are very pleased to have him as our head coach.
Gonzalez produced a 47-46 record in his first three seasons with the Pirates, including 17-15 last season. Previously, he was 129-77 at Manhattan College.
Gonzalez said he was excited and truly pleased with the devotion Seton Hall has shown me with this extension.
With the positive steps we've taken in our first three years, we now believe we are ready to take the program to the next level,
he said.
