Joe Cox threw two touchdown passes Saturday to help 21st-ranked Georgia outlast South Carolina in a 41-37 slugfest.
Cox completed 17-of-24 for 201 yards. Richard Samuel and Branden Smith each had a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0 SEC) and A.J. Green had six receptions for 86 yards and a TD for Georgia.
Georgia’s Brandon Boykin had four returns for 187 yards, including a school-record 100-yard TD return.
Stephen Garcia connected on 31-of-53 for 313 yards and two TDs and ran for 42 yards on 10 carries for the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1).
Tight end Wesley Saunders had eight catches for 96 yards, while Tori Gurley and Brian Maddox each caught a TD pass.
