Marquette guard has torn achilles
Marquette University has lost freshman point guard Junior Cadougan to a torn right Achilles, Coach Buzz Williams announced Friday.
Cadougan, a 6-foot-1 inch, 205-pound native of Toronto, sustained the injury during a conditioning drill Thursday. He could not attend summer classes while waiting for an NCAA Clearinghouse ruling on his eligibility last month.
We all know injuries are a part of sports,Williams said.
As a program, we are all hurt and disappointed for Junior. He will receive the absolute best care possible prior to, during, and after his surgery.
I knew what it was as soon as it happened, Williams told Fox Sports Thursday.
Cadougan averaged 22 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals per game last season for Christian Life Center in Humble, Texas.
He was set to be a solid replacement for four-year Eagle lettermen Jerel McNeal, Wesley Matthews and Dominic James, who all graduated this spring.
