Mark Martin’s contract extended

September 18, 2009

Hendrick Motorsports has signed veteran Sprint Cup driver Mark Martin to a contract extension through the 2011 season.

In 2010, Martin’s No. 5 Chevrolet will be sponsored by GoDaddy.com in 20 races, including the season-opening Daytona 500.

Martin has won four times this season — the Subway Fresh Fit 500, the Southern 500, the LifeLock 400 and the LifeLock.com 400. At 50 years old, the native of Batesville, Ark., is NASCAR’s oldest driver.

We’re stoked to have him driving for Go Daddy next year, said GoDaddy.com founder and Chief Executive Officer Bob Parsons.

Martin, the points leader with 5,040, is driving for Hendrick full-time this season for the first time, and is the oldest driver ever to qualify for the Race for the Chase, NASCAR’s season-ending battle for the title.

The Chase starts Sunday at the Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
