Bruins trade leading goal scorer
The Boston Bruins announced Friday they had traded Phil Kessel, their leading goal scorer last season, to Toronto for three draft picks.
Kessel was a restricted free agent with the Bruins, but was unable to agree to a new contract. He reportedly will sign with the Maple Leafs for $27 million over five years.
Boston will receive Toronto's first-round draft choices in 2010 and 2011 and will also receive a second-round pick in 2010.
Kessel had shoulder surgery during the summer and is not expected to be on the ice until at least November.
