September 21, 2009

South Korea was given a slot on the 2010 Formula One racing schedule and the Canadian Grand Prix was returned to next year’s roster, F1 officials said Monday.

The first Korean Grand Prix was scheduled for Oct. 17, two races before the season ends, the International Automobile Federation, known by its French initials FIA, announced.

Canada was tentatively given a June 13 race date, but if Canadian Grand Prix organizers and FIA can’t reach agreement on some contract issues, the race would be dropped and the Turkish Grand Prix would be moved from May 30 to June 6.

The 19-race 2010 F1 schedule opens March 14 in Bahrain and ends Nov. 14 with the Brazilian Grand Prix.
