MLB: Toronto 5, Seattle 0
Roy Halladay broke out of a recent slump Friday to throw a seven-hit shutout and carry Toronto to a 5-0 decision over Seattle.
Halladay (16-10) had lost five of his previous seven starts, but produced the 48th complete game and 14th shutout of his 12-year career. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter.
The game was scoreless going into the sixth before Aaron Hill gave the Blue Jays the lead with his 34th homer of the season — a two-run shot to left.
Jose Bautista singled home two more runs in the seventh and Lyle Overbay doubled in another in the eighth.
Doug Fister (2-4) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Halladay avoided equaling his career high in losses, having dropped 11 contests last season.
