Britain-Ireland team makes it 5 in a row

Britain-Ireland won the European Tour’s Vivendi Trophy with Seve Ballesteros for the fifth straight time Sunday, topping Continental Europe by five points.


The Britain-Ireland team needed just two points in the final round to clinch the trophy in Paris and got them in the first two matches, a 3 and 2 win by Graeme McDowell over Robert Karlsson and Rory McIlroy’s 1-up decision over Henrik Stenson.


The event, which was played at the Saint- Nom-la-Breteche Golf Club, was formerly known as the Seve Trophy, named for for longtime golf star Seve Ballesteros.


Other winners in the final round were Robert Rock for Britain-Ireland and Anders Hansen, Soren Hansen, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Soren Kjeldsen and Francesco Molinari of Continental Europe. Two other matches were halved.
