Anthony Hill, a rookie tight end with the Texans, is the first NFL player with a confirmed case of the N1H1 virus, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

The Houston native, a fourth-round pick by the Texans out of North Carolina State in this year’s NFL Draft, missed practice Thursday after a two-day stay at undisclosed hospital.

I was shocked when I heard he had swine flu, teammate James Casey told the newspaper after Friday’s practice.

The original diagnosis on Hill’s illness was pneumonia, but hospital tests confirmed the highly-contagious virus.

On the league’s weekly injury report late Friday, Hill was doubtful for Sunday’s home contest against the Oakland Raiders.
