Roger Levesque’s goal in the 36th minute Saturday gave Seattle a 1-0 Major League Soccer win at Columbus.

Levesque scored his first goal (unassisted) when Crew goalkeeper Will Hesmer failed to clear his initial miss.

Jhon Kennedy Hurtado also took shots on goal, while goalkeeper Kasey Keller made two saves for the Sounders (10-7-11), who continue a battle for a playoff berth in their inaugural MLS season.

Their three points put them into a tie with Chivas USA for third in the Western Conference.

Chivas won 2-0 at D.C. United earlier Saturday.

The Crew (12-5-10) had a chance to score the equalizer late, but Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s shot went awry.
