Kuchar takes PGA playoff victory

Matt Kuchar's par Monday on the sixth playoff hole was good for the title and the $1 million first prize at the Turning Stone Resort Championship in New York.
Kuchar took advantage when Vaughn Taylor sent his drive on the fourth hole played Monday into the water at the 13th hole at Atunyote Golf Club. Kuchar followed with a drive down the center of the fairway. He still made it interesting, however, when his second shot just missed a water hazard.
Taylor chipped his fourth shot to within 5 feet but, after Kuchar's approach was close enough to be considered a tap in, missed his bogey putt. Kuchar sank his par putt to end the tournament.
It was the second PGA Tour title for Kuchar, but first since the 2002 Honda Classic.
It's hard to believe it's been since 2002,
Kuchar said. There's nothing quite as sweet as the joy of coming out on top for a week.
Kuchar and Taylor finished 72 holes tied at 17-under-par 271. They both birdied the first playoff hole and had pars on the second before play was suspended Sunday because of darkness. They resumed Monday morning where they matched scores until the sixth playoff hole.
