South Korea’s Jang wins women’s British Open

SOUTHPORT, England (Reuters) - South Korea's Jang Jeong won
the last major of the women's season with a final round 69 at
the British Open on Sunday.

The win at Royal Birkdale was Jang's first victory in six
seasons on the LPGA Tour.

The leader from round one, the 25-year-old started the day
five shots ahead and won by four on 16-under-par 272.

Sweden's Sophie Gustafson, the winner at Birkdale in 2000,
was second on 12-under after a 67, with 15-year-old American
amateur Michelle Wie and South Korea's Kim Young tied for third
on 10-under. They both shot 69.

World number one Annika Sorenstam, who had been seeking a
third major of the season and was tied second overnight, lost a
ball from her drive at the 18th, ran up a double-bogey seven
and had to settle for a 71 and joint fifth place on nine-under.
