Van Exel signs one-year deal with Spurs

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Reuters) – Veteran guard Nick Van
Exel has agreed to a one-year contract with the NBA champion
San Antonio Spurs.
“We think he’ll be a great complement to the team we have,”
Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said.
The 33-year-old Van Exel averaged 11.1 points and 4.3
assists in 53 games with Portland last season. In 12 NBA
seasons, he has a career average of 15.1 points and 6.9
assists. He ranks fifth in the NBA with 1,473 three-pointers.
