Giants running back Barber signs contract extension

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Giants running back Tiki Barber has signed a two-year extension to his contract that will keep him with the team through the 2008 season, the Giants said.
Barber also will receive a raise for the remaining two years of his current contract, according to New York newspapers.
"I wanted to make sure I was a Giant for life," the 30-year-old Barber told reporters.
Barber will earn about $6 million this season, a $2 million increase, The New York Times reported. He also will receive an increase next season and will earn $11 million total for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, the Times and the Daily News of New York said.
Barber is the Giants' all-time leader in total yardage with 12,842 and rushing with 6,927 yards.
