Folklore wins Breeders’ Juvenile Fillies

ELMONT, New York (Reuters) - Folklore captured the
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies race on Saturday, giving jockey
Edgar Prado his first Breeders' title on his 42nd attempt.

The favorite in the 10-horse race, Folklore handed trainer
D. Wayne Lukas a record fifth victory in the $1 million
Juvenile Fillies for 2-year-olds.

Folklore grabbed the lead at the top of the stretch and
held off a late charge by Wild Fit to win by 1 1/4 lengths.
Original Spin, ridden by Jerry Bailey, finished third.

The bay offspring of two-time Breeders' Cup Classic winner
Tiznow, Folklore competed the 1 1/6-mile course at Belmont Park
in 1:43.85.

Folklore paid $6.70, $4.20 and $2.70 for a $2 ticket.
