US break indoor 4×400 meters relay world record

February 12, 2006

HOUSTON (Reuters) – Olympic gold medallist Jeremy Wariner
anchored the U.S. team to an indoor 4×400 meters relay world
record of 3:01.96 in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, USA
Track & Field said on its Web site.

Kerron Clement, Wallace Spearmon, Darold Williamson and
Wariner shattered the 1999 record of 3:02.83 set by fellow
Americans Andre Morris, Dameon Johnson, Deon Minor and Milton
Campbell

They were rewarded with a $25,000 check from the meeting’s
sponsors.

Clement broke Michael Johnson’s indoor 400 meters world
record on the same track last year, while Spearmon set an
indoor 300 meters world best of 31.88 second on Friday.

Wariner won the Olympic 400 meters in 2004 and ran with
Williamson in the Americans’ gold-medal winning 4×400 meters
relay team.
