Titans sign free-agent receiver Givens to multi-year deal

March 15, 2006

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Tennessee Titans have signed key
New England Patriots Super Bowl receiver David Givens to a
multi-year contract, the team said on its Web site.

Givens, who helped the Patriots win Super Bowls in 2004 and
2005, will receive $24 million including an $8 million signing
bonus, during the five-year contract, The Boston Globe
reported.

He caught eight passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns in
two Super Bowls and is the Patriots’ all-time postseason
touchdown reception leader with seven.

“David is a proven winner that will provide experience to a
young receiving corps,” Titans general manager Floyd Reese said
in a statement.

“He has a great upside being only 25 years old and he will
add another dimension to our receiver group.”

The Titans also announced they had signed free-agent center
Kevin Mawae, a former New York Jets player, to a multi-year
deal.
