LONDON (Reuters) - Tiger Woods will play in the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth for only the second time in his career.
The world number one will chase the first prize of 1 million pounds ($1.75 million), the richest in golf, at the elite 16-man event played at Virginia Water in Surrey from September 14-17.
"The World Match Play Championship is in its 43rd year and has a great history with some awesome winners," Woods was quoted as saying on the European Tour's official Web site on Tuesday.
"I would love to win it and hope that this year will be my year."
