Falcons extend head coach Mora’s contract
March 24, 2006
NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Atlanta Falcons on Friday gave
head coach Jim Mora a three-year contract extension through the
2009 season, the club said on its website.
Mora, 44, who enters his third season at the helm of the
Falcons, has posted an overall record of 20-14.
“We’re delighted Jim is our head coach, and we want him to
be a part of our long-term success,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank
said in a statement.
Mora steered Atlanta to the NFC South division title in
2004 with an 11-5 record in his first season in charge, and won
a playoff game before losing to NFC champions Philadelphia
Eagles.
The Falcons last season were 8-8, losing their last three
games to fall out of playoff contention.
