Patriots’ Seymour agrees contract extension
April 12, 2006
BOSTON (Reuters) – The New England Patriots have agreed a
contract extension with defensive lineman Richard Seymour, the
team said on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old three-time Pro Bowl defensive end had been
in the final year of his rookie contract from six years ago.
The financial terms and other details were not disclosed.
A report on the Patriots’ official Web site said Seymour
was set to earn a base salary of just over two million dollars
in 2006 and that the new contract was believed to be for four
years, keeping Seymour in a Patriots uniform through 2010.
Since the twice defending Super Bowl heavyweights were
eliminated from the playoffs this year they have seen an exodus
of key players, losing two starters in March to free agency.
