Hornish beats Marco Andretti to win Indy 500
INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - Sam Hornish junior blasted past
rookie Marco Andretti at the finish line to win the
Indianapolis 500 on Sunday by the second closest margin ever.
Hornish, who started from the pole, finished about one car
length ahead of 19-year old Andretti, whose father Michael was
"That kid drove a heck of a race and he raced me clean,"
Hornish said in Victory Circle.
It was a record 14th victory for car owner Roger Penske.
Defending champion Dan Wheldon of Britain led for most of
the race before finishing fourth.
