COLOGNE (Reuters) - Togo held France 0-0 at halftime in their Group G match on Friday after French forwards David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry missed a series of chances.
France, without suspended midfield maestro Zinedine Zidane, began strongly and went on the attack, with Trezeguet's first effort in the fourth minute flying wide.
Togo gained in confidence and France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez was forced into a fine save from a Mohamed Kader Coubadja shot just moments later.
But France had the best of the chances with Franck Ribery and Trezeguet wasting opportunities with Togo mostly kept on the defensive and limited to counter-attacks.
