DORTMUND (Reuters) – Hosts Germany and Italy went into
extra time with the score at 0-0 on Tuesday in a pulsating
World Cup semi-final in which both teams sought to attack.

Italy dominated the game with a crisp inter-passing game
but the German defense held firm and the home team, who have
never lost in Dortmund, looked to exploit chances on the break.

Both sides are three-times World Cup winners. Germany are
looking for an eighth appearance in the final and Italy a
sixth.

The winners, after extra time and any subsequent penalty
shootout, will play Portugal or France in the final in Berlin
on Sunday.
