July 20, 2006
NEW YORK (Reuters) – San Diego Padres bench coach Tony
Muser has been suspended for one game after getting ejected for
arguing a checked swing, Major League Baseball announced
Thursday.
Muser will also be fined an undisclosed amount for his
“inappropriate actions” during a July 16 game against the
Atlanta Braves at San Diego’s Petco Park, said baseball’s Vice
President of On-Field Operations Bob Watson.
After a checked swing by Braves slugger Chipper Jones was
ruled a ball, Muster and Padres Manager Bruce Bochy were both
ejected by home plate umpire Bruce Dreckman for arguing.
Muser will be forced to sit out Friday’s game against the
host San Francisco Giants.
