Landis’s Phonak team disbanded after positive dope test

August 15, 2006

ZURICH (Reuters) – Tour de France winner Floyd Landis’s
Phonak cycling team is to be disbanded in the wake of his
positive doping test for testosterone, a team spokesman said on
Tuesday.

The spokesman said the team had tried to find other
sponsors without success and would now be seeking alternative
rides for Landis’s team mates. Phonak had already said before
this year’s Tour that it planned to withdraw from the sport.

Landis was sacked by the Swiss-based team after the second
B sample tested positive for the hormone earlier this month.
