MELBOURNE (Reuters) - U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy will play in the Australian PGA Championship in December, the PGA of Australia confirmed on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old world number eight, who claimed his first major title at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York in June, has added the December 7-11 event at the Hyatt Regency Coolum course on Queensland's Sunshine Coast to his schedule.
"One thing that hasn't changed since I won the U.S. Open is my desire to support Australian golf and to have a win on home soil," Ogilvy said in a statement.
Ogilvy, who has never won in Australia and is currently preparing for the 88th PGA Championship at Medinah, Illinois, is already committed to playing the Australian Open at Royal Sydney from November 16-19.
Robert Allenby, the world number 38 and defending Australian PGA champion, is the only other Australian based on the U.S. Tour to commit himself to the Sunshine Coast event.
