Tony Gwynn Needs More Votes
SAN DIEGO, April 5 /PRNewswire/ — With a 97.6% approval rating, Tony Gwynn along with Cal Ripken Jr. was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, class of 2007. wsRadio, a San Diego Internet Talk Radio Network, is sponsoring an online voting campaign for fans to choose their favorite image of Tony Gwynn.
To commemorate Gwynn’s induction, a one of a kind first class postage stamp is currently on the drawing board. With three poses to choose from, the actual image for the stamp will be selected by Gwynn’s fans. To cast a vote, log onto http://www.shoptonygwynn.com/. Voting will end at midnight on April 30, 2007.

The first postage stamp in a three part series was released on January 9, 2007, celebrating the official date of the Hall of Fame election results. As a twenty season veteran of the San Diego Padres, Tony Gwynn is a long time resident of Poway, California. The Poway Post Office hand canceled 1019 units. Five hundred were personally autographed by Gwynn and the remaining five hundred featured a facsimile autograph. Inventory for the first series of stamps is still available online at http://www.shoptonygwynn.com/. Nineteen one of a kind envelopes will be auctioned off on eBay in July, 2007.
The cover (envelope) lists Gwynn’s major achievements, which include; 3141 hits, 8 Time National League Batting Champ, 16 All Star Games, 5 Gold Gloves, a .338 lifetime batting average and his 3000th hit on 8.6.1999.
Gwynn will be officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown New York on July 29, 2007.
