A Los Angeles police officer who filmed rapper The Game in his jail cell could be punished, the police department said.
Video footage of the 27-year-old rapper, taken with a cell-phone camera, appeared on celebrity Web site TMZ.com on May 12. In the clip, the performer, whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor, flashes gang signs and brags about a wad of money.
An unnamed officer is being investigated, a police department told the Los Angeles Times. The LAPD is increasingly cracking down on employees who leak celebrity video, mugshots and arrest reports to the media, the newspaper said Saturday.
An ongoing police investigation of who leaked Mel Gibson's arrest report to TMZ.com has yet to identify a suspect. TMZ managing editor Harvey Levin told the Times the site does not reveal its sources.
Taylor was arrest May 11 on charges related to threats he allegedly made at a pickup basketball game. He has since been charged with making criminal threats, possession of a firearm in a school zone and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of an officer.
