HEWLETT-PACKARD Co has reclaimed the top position in worldwide total disk storage systems revenue with 20.1 per cent market share, according to market data for the first quarter of this year from research firm IDC.

The company also held the top position in several other categories, including open storage area network (which includes fibre channel and iSCSI) shipments, in which it has 14.6 per cent share worldwide.

In the internal disk storage system category, HP led with 35.8 per cent revenue share.

Besides that, the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array family has increased its external disk array revenue share in the mid- range segment. HP also grew year-over-year revenue faster than the two closest competitors in worldwide total disk storage, helped by market share gains in product lines such as the StorageWorks XP disk arrays and HP All-in-One Storage Systems.
