Hughes Delivers First Fully Integrated Network Management Portal for Hybrid Broadband Networks
Posted on: Monday, 16 July 2007, 09:13 CDT
GERMANTOWN, Md., July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), a leader in the managed network services market, today announced a breakthrough in broadband network management-a fully integrated, enterprise- wide performance and fault management tool for both satellite and landline (DSL, T1) broadband technologies-the HughesNet(R) Customer Gateway.
Available exclusively to HughesNet Managed Services customers, the HughesNet Customer Gateway offers a single interface for monitoring and managing any broadband technology deployed within an organization. The HughesNet Customer Gateway helps network managers reduce the time and challenges associated with monitoring multiple systems, thereby increasing uptime, optimizing application performance, and speeding outage recovery.
"Enterprise network environments are more complex and critical then ever. IT managers struggle to understand quickly and efficiently what is going on within their network at any given moment during the day," said Sandra Palumbo, program manager, Yankee Group. "Having a single view into that environment allows busy IT teams to reduce the time and effort needed to gather valuable information, allowing them to focus on more strategic and proactive network functions."
Performance Management
When logged on to the HughesNet Customer Gateway, network administrators can track network-wide performance more efficiently. Instead of having to visit dashboards for every technology deployed throughout the enterprise, network administrators using the HughesNet Customer Gateway get a more accurate snapshot of real-time network status and can view site and application performance with a click of a mouse. To facilitate performance management, the HughesNet Customer Gateway offers site-by-site analysis, trend data, and extensive troubleshooting functionality. Network administrators can use this information to understand and improve application performance on their networks.
Fault Management
Often network administrators have to learn a new language each time a new technology or vendor is added to the network mix. This can inhibit their ability to identify performance degradation or to respond quickly in the event of an outage. With the HughesNet Customer Gateway, different network technologies are integrated and a single, easy-to-understand alert system is employed.
The HughesNet Customer Gateway's fault management tool also proactively monitors sites and automatically generates trouble tickets, alerting administrators of potential outages in real time. To ensure maximum uptime, automatic dispatch is an available option.
A number of large enterprise customers are currently using the HughesNet Customer Gateway, including market leaders such as BP and Sonic Corporation.
"The HughesNet Customer Gateway is designed to give enterprises a competitive advantage in today's marketplace," said Mike Cook, senior vice president, North America, Hughes. "By creating a single interface for network management and a more accurate real-time performance view, we are making it easier for organizations to control their network environment while enjoying the benefits of a managed network service. The result is improved network performance and maximum uptime."
