BEDMINSTER, N.J., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T today announced it has received the 2004 Global Wholesale Carrier Excellence Award for network performance from Atlantic-ACM, a Boston-based telecommunications research consultancy.
The award is based on the results of the 2004 edition of Atlantic-ACM's Global Wholesale Carrier Report Card, which evaluated the performance in key delivery areas of wholesale communications service providers from ratings by their resale customers.
"This award is a testament to our leadership in business networks and focus on meeting the networking expectations and requirements of our global wholesale customers," said Kathleen Flaherty, AT&T chief marketing officer. "Over the last several years, we've continued investment in our global IP network to set the standard for network innovation and performance, while extending our global reach to deliver on the growing demand for our network services."
AT&T's network now provides, and guarantees, end-to-end service availability of 99.999% across about 1,000 MPLS nodes in 49 countries, as well as 25 state-of-the-art Internet Data Centers.
As the leading provider of global wholesale services, AT&T meets the networking needs of wireless providers, cable providers and systems integrators, as well as carriers worldwide. AT&T terminates traffic in more than 230 countries and territories and provides access from nearly 1,500 cities.
The company's comprehensive wholesale portfolio offers a full range of Internet protocol (IP), data and voice services, including virtual private networks, managed security services, such as AT&T Internet Protect, and managed contact center services.
Additionally, AT&T supports wholesale customers' migration to voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) with offers that facilitate the transformation of their operations, infrastructure and services from legacy networking systems to the new frontier of IP. AT&T's VoIP-enabled network delivers VoIP and IP telephony applications and provides IP and PSTN services, allowing wholesale customers to offer converged network services.
AT&T backs its wholesale services portfolio with industry-leading service level agreements (SLAs). The standard agreements commit to service availability on an end-to-end basis with guaranteed performance metrics, and are designed to address customers' primary objective of superior performance.
