Intercasting Corporation, a leading mobile media company, today announced ANTHEM™, an innovative mobile social networking platform, will be available on select Sprint phones. ANTHEM enables wireless carriers to offer any web-based social networking and community sites they choose to bring social networking to their mobile subscribers. Sprint will be the first wireless carrier to offer ANTHEM, which will allow customers to easily access popular social networking sites such as LiveJournal, Rabble, Vox and Xanga.
"ANTHEM makes it possible for mobile users to participate in two of the most significant trends in online communication--social networking and user generated content," said Shawn Conahan, president, Intercasting Corporation. "We are very pleased that Sprint has selected ANTHEM to enable their customers to access a broad range of leading social networking and community sites."
The ANTHEM platform provides a web-like, media-rich interface that will give Sprint customers a fully branded and customized pocket version of their favorite social networking service that is surprisingly functional yet easy to use. No matter which social networking provider they choose, a consistently simple user interface will make it easy to view photos, send and receive messages, post comments, search profiles and more.
"We want our LiveJournal and Vox customers to have as many ways as possible to keep in touch with their communities, so we're delighted that they can use the ANTHEM client from their mobile phones to do so," said Larissa Le, Director of Product Management of the Consumer Division at Six Apart.
"We're always looking for new ways to help Xanga users keep in touch," said John Hiler, CEO of Xanga.com. "So we're excited to work with Sprint and Intercasting to enable Xanga users to connect anytime, anywhere."
Mobile access to LiveJournal, Rabble, Vox and Xanga through the ANTHEM client will be available starting next week on select Sprint phones for $2.99 each per month, plus standard data charges. To enjoy any of these social networking sites, Sprint customers should go to the mobile Web on their phones, select Messaging, select Social Zone and then choose the service they wish to download. Once downloaded, customers simply enter their existing username and password for that community. With ANTHEM, Sprint has the ability to quickly launch any social networking site in the future.
Intercasting Corp. also will make its platform available to social networking sites and to major brands and entertainment companies interested in developing mobile social networking communities.
Intercasting Corp. was the first company to deploy a carrier-grade mobile blogging and social networking application in North America with Rabble -- www.rabble.com.
