Oracle Adds Google Maps to Field Service

Oracle will improve the capabilities of the field service component of Oracle E-Business Suite release 12 with the integration of the Google mapping API.

By integrating Google Maps for Enterprise with Oracle Field Service, field service dispatchers will be able to identify technician routes and problem locations on the Google Maps interface in order to track and manage resources and customer issues, using the maps' zoom and navigation facilitates to move around without having to reload the entire map image. Field technicians will be able to view their jobs on a map or satellite image from the Google Maps API.

Oracle has also expanded the capabilities of Field Service in the areas of technician schedule optimization including spatial coverage for western Europe and world markets, plus support for multi-day tasks, site access hours, and customer appointment confirmation tracking.

Also new is an Administrator's Portal that allows administrators to work with tasks assigned to in-house or partner technicians across time zones and regions, while Spares Management supports planning and logistics processes in the service management lifecycle with a new dashboard for time-phased planning and a horizontal view to to improve planning and replenishing processes for field service warehouses and technician inventories.
