Objectivity Reinforces Government Commitment; Company Enacts Focused Initiatives to Support Government Sector

Posted on: Monday, 8 November 2004, 09:00 CST

Celebrating the sixteenth year of Supercomputing 2004 (SC2004), the world's leading conference on high performance computing, networking and storage, Objectivity, Inc. today reaffirms its commitment to the government sector. The company has enacted several initiatives targeted at enhancing government support for Objectivity's high performance database for real-time, knowledge-based management solutions. These initiatives include building strategic alliances and partnerships in addition to signing new government resellers. Furthermore, Objectivity has strengthened relationships with leading prime contractors and the government customer base.

Working Closely with Silicon Graphics Federal Systems Group

This week, Objectivity is featured in the SGI exhibit (Booth #1311) as a Bronze Sponsor at the upcoming Supercomputing 2004 conference being held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Objectivity is highlighting its relationship with the Department of Energy (DOE) which has generated the world's largest database, currently storing 895 Terabytes of information in Objectivity/DB. The Department of Defense (DOD), DOE and other government agencies are attending the show all of which have strong relationships with Objectivity.

Objectivity has a strategic relationship with SGI, whose new Columbia supercomputer recently achieved sustained performance of 42.7 trillion calculations per second (teraflops) at NASA, earning them the number one position in the Supercomputer benchmark. SC2004 is just one of the cooperative Federal Systems sales programs Objectivity is involved in to promote a recent joint benchmark delineating the performance boundaries of commercially available database, file system and hardware technologies.

The tested system demonstrated the throughput of a linearly scalable combination of Objectivity/DB(R), SGI(R) NUMAflex(TM) supercomputer architecture and SGI(R) InfiniteStorage Shared Filesystem CXFS(TM), simultaneously ingesting, processing and querying data objects and the relationships between them at a rate of over 32 Terabytes per day.

New Government Strategic Alliance

In September, Objectivity also announced a strategic partnership with Ontology Works, Inc. of Odenton, Maryland, in response to the growing need for managing very large amounts of subtly interrelated information in government, finance, drug discovery and many other markets. Under the agreement, Ontology Works is developing the High Performance Knowledge Server(TM) (HPKS) capable of managing Terabyte-scale volumes of information with high model complexity and query performance. The Ontology Works' HPKS employs ontologies -- sophisticated, high fidelity information models of an application domain. The HPKS provides the ability to process sophisticated analytic queries involving uncertainty, time, security, provenance and hypothesis management. Objectivity/DB serves as the repository for the HPKS providing unlimited scalability and performance to solve the most demanding analytical informational management problems.

Resellers, Prime Contractors and the Government

In May, Objectivity signed a government reseller agreement with Computer Security Solutions (CompSec), a computer security solutions provider located in Mclean, Virginia. The agreement makes Objectivity's scalable, high performance, real-time database available for several pending U.S. Government projects focused on disparate data systems, security, surveillance and military data mining applications. Compsec works with leading manufacturers to meet the needs of U.S.

Government agencies that process classified data in either a stationary or mobile environment. Going forward Objectivity will continue to strengthen its relationships with leading prime contractors as well as within the security and intelligence government agencies directly.

"Our government customer base is increasingly collaborating and sharing their frameworks, enabling them to advance their common security challenges much more quickly," states Jay Jarrell, president and CEO of Objectivity. "The Objectivity solution is gaining favor as an engine for the real-time knowledge management and data fusion applications for security and intelligence agencies."
