NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has taken a big step to show what makes its state one of the world's most popular destinations for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor adventures. Beginning today, the award-winning Texas Parks & Wildlife television show will be streamed through MyOutdoorTV.com, the world's largest internet video network for outdoor television shows, radio, video, and conservation information.
Texas Parks & Wildlife becomes one of the nation's first state wildlife agencies to offer its weekly television series to a broader audience as part of this powerful new forum developed to promote hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, and natural resource opportunities across the country. The new affiliation with MyOutdoorTV.com will allow on-demand viewing worldwide by anyone with a high-speed internet connection.
MyOutdoorTV.com has created a special section within its site called "State Explorer," which will provide video from various states and links to each state wildlife agency. The section will include weekly programming, educational videos, safety instruction, wildlife and waterways law enforcement information, and other useful materials. Hunters, fishermen, and boaters will even be able to purchase licenses through MyOutdoorTV.com or make donations to the wildlife agency.
Shows and materials provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife will also be included and available for search from topical sections on the MyOutdoorTV.com website, such as deer and turkey hunting, bass fishing, and wild game cooking. Users of MyOutdoorTV.com will be able to view current as well as previous episodes of Texas Parks & Wildlife. In addition, videos produced by the Texas agency, including two narrated by Walter Cronkite that examine the state's water resources, will be accessible through MyOutdoorTV.com.
Each week, the half-hour Texas Parks & Wildlife travels to several different locations around the state, covering such diverse topics as conservation and the environment, fun family activities in the outdoors, visits to state parks and historic sites, fishing, wildlife management, and much more. The show airs on PBS stations in Texas, as well as in a number of other public television markets around the country. Through 2006, the show had won at least 70 awards for excellence.
MyOutdoorTV.com will include the agency in marketing activities for the site, including TV, radio, print and online advertising and promotions. The agency will provide a link on its website to view programming at MyOutdoorTV.com and provide articles in its monthly magazine.
"We're very impressed with the outstanding quality of Texas Parks & Wildlife, and we're excited that a program of its caliber is one of the first state-sponsored shows to be aired on MyOutdoorTV.com," said Chris Moise, CEO. "Texas truly has a bounty of resources to share with the world, and we are honored to be able to extend their reach to our audience."
"We're proud of our state's resources and excited to showcase Texas through this partnership with MyOutdoorTV.com," commented Richard Roberts, executive producer of Texas Parks & Wildlife. "With more and more people accessing news and entertainment through the internet, this is the ideal vehicle for expanding our audience worldwide."
