The agreement highlights Sprint's focus on expanding relationships with customers by focusing on wireless, IP-driven and multi-product solutions to solve unique business challenges -- a strategy move announced Oct. 15.
Sprint, which already provides nationwide voice and data services that connect Ziff Davis' five U.S. locations and 500-plus employees, is now delivering advanced wireless devices, like the Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Smart Device Treo(TM) products by palmOne, and wireless voice and data services to Ziff Davis staff nationwide. The new two-year agreement makes Sprint the primary communications provider for Ziff Davis.
"Sprint can deliver all of the necessary services and devices that we require to stay on top of our business," said Jasmine Alexander, Senior Vice President, Ziff Davis Media. "Because we have a single provider, we are able to simplify management of our communications, combine our wireless and wireline contracts, and ultimately save on our total costs while getting better, more advanced services."
The Treo devices by palmOne include a Palm OS(R)-based organizer, a backlit QWERTY keyboard with dome-shaped keys, email, messaging and Web-browsing capabilities, and a Sprint PCS Phone. Through the Sprint PCS Business Solutions(SM) Program, Ziff Davis will be using GoodLink(TM) wireless messaging and corporate-application access system to provide real-time access to Microsoft Outlook applications and Web-enabled enterprise systems with continuous, two-way real-time synchronization.
"Bringing wireless and wireline services together for our customers is one way that Sprint is fulfilling its vision of being the easiest telecommunications company for customers to work with," said Paul Deering, vice president - Northeast Area, Sprint Enterprise Markets. "We can tailor not only the technology, but the management, service and contractual structure of our agreements, to help meet the needs of customers who want to more closely align their wireless and wireline services. Ultimately, this helps people become more productive, and it helps businesses become more efficient."
