Incited Media's Webcast and Streaming Production Services for Live Earth Provided More Than 30 Million Video Streams

Incited Media, the company responsible for online video and streaming production services of Live Earth, helped reach a record number of eyeballs this past weekend. The online audience for Live Earth was estimated to be the largest in history for a concert -- with over eight million people viewing the enviro-friendly musical performances on MSN.com, streaming more than 30 million videos.

Incited Media's production team of about 80 technicians, editors, programmers, and translators worked around the clock to deliver footage of the seven-continent concert, providing near-instantaneous live streaming of ten live feeds (nine stages plus a world feed) to liveearth.msn.com on behalf of Control Room Productions.

"Working closely with our technology partners Rhozet, we were able to create multiple video-on-demand files in a variety of formats," said Ben Rolling, Incited co-founder. "Plus, we were able to integrate Rhozet's technology with that of EVS, who also played a key role, providing ingest, delayed feeds, and video-on-demand footage."

In addition to the live streaming, Incited edited all of the performances song by song, producing about 650 separate video-on-demand files for MSN. The majority of these files were then viewable online mere hours after the event had wrapped. Incited's state of the art system allowed quality control for every second of the online stream. It also enabled the Incited team to rapidly log the performances, produce still images of the performers, and provide easy clearance of rights.

"The logistics behind this event were complex to say the least," said Nina Guralnick, GM for Control Room, "but working with Incited, who we have collaborated with in the past, was rewarding in that we knew home audiences worldwide would be able to catch any part of the show they were interested in at any time.
