GREAT HOST; Good Friends, Food and Conversation
Betsy Blair nominated her friend and former colleague, Richard Runkel, as a Great Host not only for his wonderful cooking, but for his “ability to pace the meal and create an experience which allows for great conversation and savoring friends, food and wine.”
Runkel is vegetarian, but many of his friends are not and yet they still enjoy his menus. “(He) always creates wondrous meals,” wrote Blair, “never what you would consider a vegetarian menu.”
While Runkel excels at appetizers and main courses, Blair’s favorite part is the last. “One of the best parts of the evening is dessert – my favorite is Ginger Souffls with warm chocolate sauce.”
