American Megatrends Announces MegaRAC(R) SP Software Support for ServerEngines Pilot Server Management Controller

Posted on: Tuesday, 7 August 2007, 09:16 CDT

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and ATLANTA, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- American Megatrends, a leader in storage and computing innovations, today announced support of the MegaRAC SP Service Processor firmware stack for ServerEngines' Pilot Server Management Controller, a highly-integrated Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). MegaRAC SP Service Processor stack provides advanced system management features for the Pilot, an integrated device that performs many functions previously handled through separate devices such as the baseboard management controller, VGA processor, KVM card (Keyboard, Video and Mouse), Super I/O chip and dual network interfaces.

"Out Pilot Server Management Controller was the first silicon to incorporate BMC, Graphics processor, Super I/O and Network interfaces into one chip," said Raju Vegesna, President and CEO of ServerEngines. "With our partnership with AMI, and their world class MegaRAC software and support, we will be able gain significant OEM design wins."

"AMI is pleased to announce our partnership with ServerEngines that provides support for the Pilot Server Management Controller," said Subramonian Shankar, CEO and President at AMI. "Together, we will enable OEMs to use MegaRAC SP and the Pilot hardware to market systems with state-of-the-art RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability) functionality, while reducing development complexity and shortening time to market. The MegaRAC SP Firmware is architected to allow OEMs to switch from their existing BMC or SOC solution to an integrated solution, such as the Pilot SOC, without losing features and time delays in porting the firmware to multiple platforms. The MegaRAC SP Firmware is extremely portable for OEMs and the tool sets for development allow AMI to stand above and beyond the competition. AMI is excited about supporting the ServerEngines Pilot."
