SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Zimbra, the leader in open source, next-generation messaging and collaboration software, today announced that it has continued its momentum into the second fiscal quarter of 2007 growing its customer base by 55 percent from the previous quarter. Since the company's launch of the Network Edition in the fourth quarter of 2005 Zimbra has achieved 80 percent quarter over quarter growth in new customers. In addition to the customer growth, the company has expanded its worldwide partner program nearly doubling the number of new global partners from the previous quarter. More than nine million paid mailboxes across 50+ countries use Zimbra, further establishing ZCS as the fastest growing solution in the business, education and service provider markets for messaging and collaboration.
"We are honored to have such wide adoption of the Zimbra platform across the world and in a wide range of industry verticals, and it is exciting to see our community approaching 10,000 members," said Satish Dharmaraj, CEO, Zimbra. "As we expand into new markets, we will continue to drive global growth from educational institutions, international enterprises, and service providers worldwide."
Partners Drive Zimbra Growth Worldwide
Zimbra is committed to teaming up with channel partners around the world from Australia to Zambia. Through its rapidly expanding partner program, which includes hosting service providers, value added resellers, distributors and system integrators Zimbra has been able to grow worldwide customer adoption by more than 80+ percent, and international customer adoption by 70+ percent from the first quarter ending March 31, 2007. Today, nearly half of Zimbra's revenue is driven by global implementations, and the Zimbra solution has been translated into more than 20 languages including Chinese, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Slovenian and more.
Together with its partners, Zimbra serves more than 14 vertical industries including service providers, educational institutions, government and businesses. Businesses include customers in markets such as advertising/communications, construction, engineering, education, financial services, local, healthcare, high technology, non-profit, real estate, retail, and transportation.
Customers Cite Innovation, Lower TCO, and Multi-Client Support as Key Advantages
"Rolling out Zimbra's cutting-edge email and collaboration platform for service providers has attracted new subscribers who will no longer settle for run-of-the-mill email solutions," said Dan Buchner, Managing Director, Switch Networks (Australia). "At the same time, Zimbra's multi-tenancy capabilities and the ability to handle tens of thousands of users on just one server drive down our TCO dramatically."
"We considered MS Exchange and Zimbra when it came time to upgrade our messaging software. While there were many things that we liked about Exchange, there were things that we foresaw causing us more work as administrators," said Jeffrey Vargas, Technology Director for Time Out New York. "Using Exchange would have required a larger investment in proprietary hardware, software and consulting services to get our environment set up, and we would have been locked into MS-only solutions and services. Being a predominantly Mac environment, we're more comfortable with similar products and open-source solutions. In the end, Zimbra came out on top because of the flexibility that it offered, ease of management and maintenance as well as the price point. Zimbra allows us to have much more control over our IT environment for a lot less money, and their innovative web-based interface provides a much richer experience."
Zimbra's Worldwide Community Thrives
Zimbra's community of developers and administrators continues to flourish with over 9,500 active members in Zimbra's forums, more than 200 posts per day, and a 90 percent response rate. The Open Source edition of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times.
