Adventure Web: Mount St. Helens VolcanoCams
Online Adventure site of the week: Mount St. Helens VolcanoCams (www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh)
A new Web camera aimed at Mount St. Helens is now online from the Johnston Ridge Observatory.
This new high-definition camera allows visitors to get a sharper and closer view of the growing lava dome and displaced glacier within the crater.
The new camera was made possible through donations to the Northwest Interpretive Association.
Since the original camera was installed at Mount St. Helens more than 10 years ago, it has remained the most-visited Web site in the U.S. Forest Service. The VolcanoCam receives more than 1 million visits each month.
The current camera will remain and become the “classic” VolcanoCam view.
