Datum Legal Integrates Catalyst CR to Extend Its Discovery Management Solutions
Catalyst Repository Systems, a leading provider of secure, web-based repositories to the legal, business and financial markets, today announced that Datum Legal has selected Catalyst CR to extend Datum Legal’s web-based eDiscovery solutions. Datum Legal chose the Catalyst CR technology for its abilities to support globally-distributed litigation teams working on cases in as many as 70 different languages, to handle large volumes of data, and to enable multiple parties, including joint defense groups, to share a single repository.
The deal illustrates how the demands of litigation 2.0 cases — complex cases that are litigated by dispersed teams of lawyers and involve massive volumes of data — are outstripping the technology limits of many eDiscovery technologies currently available.
“Our clients tend to be very large companies and leading law firms with large cases that push the limits of current technologies. Catalyst CR is built from the ground up to handle these massive data volumes because it runs on a sophisticated grid computing infrastructure and it delivers blinding speed,” said Chris Egan, Managing Partner for Datum Legal. “Also, foreign language in particular has become a must-have feature and Catalyst’s implementation is unique in the industry.”
“Our relationship with Datum Legal is yet another validation of our litigation 2.0 technology leadership,” said John Tredennick, CEO of Catalyst Repository Systems. “Datum understands the litigation demands of large companies and premier law firms and is stepping up to the plate with some of the most advanced eDiscovery solutions available today. We look forward to working with Datum Legal and their clients.”
Catalyst CR 6.1 for Grid Computing
Unlike other litigation repository products, Catalyst CR 6.1 is built upon a grid of hosted servers running the FAST search engine. Catalyst’s On-Demand infrastructure brings corporate legal departments and law firms the same type of flexibility, scalability and reliability that companies like IBM, Sun and Oracle offer corporate IT through their utility computing and grid initiatives. This infrastructure enhances CR’s robust and easy-to-use features which include bates range searching, concept searching, redaction, and foldering. It also supports over 70 languages, including those with multi-byte character sets like Kanji and Mandarin.
