STAMFORD, Conn., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Aperture Technologies Inc., the leading global provider of software for managing the physical infrastructure of data centers, today announced that it will enable IT departments to assess the physical impact of deploying and maintaining Sun hardware in the corporate data center and optimize the utilization of physical resources like, space, power and cooling.
Aperture's VISTA software solution is designed to help data center managers understand the impact of the server hardware they are installing and managing on the data center environment, and to plan accordingly. As data centers expand and demands for processing power increase, managers are battling with the need to control rising temperatures, make the most efficient use of available floor space, and prevent power consumption from spiraling out of control.
Aperture VISTA provides a continually-updated database of more than 30,000 hardware components from over 1,500 manufacturers, together with details of their dimensions, weight, power consumption, heat output, and other specifications. Fortune 1000 organizations of all types, from JPMorgan Chase to Fujitsu Services, are using Aperture VISTA to plan and manage the physical infrastructure of increasingly complex data centers.
Aperture will now have access to more in-depth information about Sun's hardware products, which will be incorporated into the Aperture VISTA library as soon as new products become available.
Aperture can now reassure Sun that its customers are making data center provisioning decisions based on accurate, up-to-date information about the physical properties of its products.
"Sun is one of the world's largest suppliers of high-performance enterprise hardware, and is on the shortlist for most data center provisioning projects," said Bill Clifford, CEO, Aperture. "Our customers will now have the latest information about Sun hardware when making decisions about installing and managing new systems, enabling them to increase the efficiency of even the most complex data centers."
Juan Carlos Soto, vice president, market development, Sun Microsystems, said, "Sun is committed to providing our customers with the most efficient servers that deliver high performance and reliability while minimizing space, power and heat consumption. Our eco-responsibility and virtualization initiatives, including Project Blackbox, extend the value of Sun infrastructure to our customers - making them better corporate citizens while improving their bottom line. Aperture will empower enterprises to fully utilize the industry-leading efficiencies we build into our servers and create the most optimized configuration for their data centers that fits their business needs."
