Based at Fujitsu Services HQ in London, John will report to chief operating officer David Courtley. John will lead the financial services, retail, travel, telecoms, utilities and manufacturing business units.
John has run companies in the telecoms and technology sectors for more than 30 years. He joins Fujitsu Services from Neos, an optical ethernet service provider, where he held the position of chief executive officer. Prior to joining Madge NV, he founded and managed the European subsidiary of ANS Communications Inc, which built the European network infrastructure for America Online (AOL). ANS was acquired by WorldCom in 1998. Before setting up ANS in Europe he held a number of senior management roles at BT, including the position of director of corporate clients. The division generated revenues of approximately £3.5 billion per annum. In this role, he had full P&L responsibility for 3,500 personnel and the top 5,000 business customers. John is also a non-executive director of Chloride Group Plc. John started his career at Burroughs Corporation, now Unisys, before moving to Wang Labs.
John Wheeler said, "I am really delighted to join a company with such a strong and growing reputation. I hope that my broad base of experience and expertise can help to accelerate our market share in the private sector. This is a great company and I can't wait to make a difference in a tough but exciting market place."
