TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform and IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Complete Interoperability Tests

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT), today announced the completion of interoperability tests between the IBM's TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Series and the recently announced Hitachi TagmaStore(TM) Universal Storage Platform. Storage virtualization simplifies the management of storage and data resources in a time of accelerating storage demand and functional complexity.

"IBM is pleased to work with Hitachi on this interoperability testing for their recently announced virtualization product. Our work with Hitachi further enhances our strategy to have an open, collaborative approach to storage," said Tom Hawk, General Manager, IBM Enterprise Storage. "Enabling our mutual customers to leverage both Hitachi and IBM virtualization and disk products can help simplify heterogeneous environments and reduce infrastructure complexity."

"With the increasing prevalence of heterogeneous storage environments, true interoperability is more important than ever," said Yoshinori Okami, General Manager of Storage Systems Development, Hitachi, Ltd. "To further reduce complexity for our mutual customers, we are pleased to continue our collaboration with IBM to enable their disk storage systems to be fully supported with our unique virtualization product."

Hitachi TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform adds IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Models 750, 800 and 800 turbo as supported storage now. The Hitachi Thunder 9200(TM) and Thunder 9500(TM) V Series modular storage systems were announced as supported by the IBM TotalStorage SAN Volume Controller, an IBM storage virtualization product.
