MTV to Air MySpace Candidate Events

MTV has agreed to air MySpace's planned dialogues with the U.S. presidential candidates.
The dialogues will involve one candidate at a time. Former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., is to appear Sept. 27 at a New Hampshire college, Politico.com reported.
A number of candidates have already agreed to participate, including Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., on the Democratic side -- and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on the Republican side.
The events will resemble the YouTube debate, but with candidates appearing alone.
Jeff Berman, senior vice president of MySpace, said the partnership with MTV is certain to be productive. MTV has been running get-out-the-vote efforts since 1992.
The most powerful way they encounter politics is through their friends, Berman said of MySpace. When you go to your buddy's MySpace page and see the question he asked of Barack Obama, you're encountering the issues in a way that's authentic to your life.
