Web users turned to the Internet in droves this week following news reports that actor Owen Wilson had been hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt, sending search activity for Wilson up 2,700% over the past 72 hours. Interest in the NFL (#18) jumps 59% this week, due in part to the Michael Vick dog-fighting scandal. Search interest in Vick continues to rise, up 82% over the past week. In the opposite end zone, searches for New England Patriots pretty boy QB Tom Brady climb 189 % following news that Brady’s ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan gave birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles last week. And Beyonce (#3) jumps back into the top 10, up 131% this week after an accidental "wardrobe malfunction" while performing a concert in Toronto. Web users flocked to the web in search of a video of the incident on YouTube (#7), showing Beyonce’s shirt flying up giving fans a brief glimpse of her exposed breasts.

Search Gainers:

Republican pundit Ann Coulter received a 500% bump in search activity due to her ongoing feud with former Senator and Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards. Earlier this year, Coulter referred to Edwards by a homosexual slur and then later, verbally attacked his wife, Elizabeth. Edwards recently referred to Coulter as a "she-devil." Meanwhile, astronaut Lisa Nowak, who was back in court last week, jumped 300% in searches. The LA Times reports that she plans to plead temporary insanity for her alleged stalking and attack of romantic rival Colleen Shipman in February.
