The email services of the telecommunications firm Onetel are in complete disarray following a massive spam attack through the European firm’s main server.

Owned by the London-based company, Carphone Warehouse, Onetel became the target of a computer attack last month when its server was hijacked and used to send thousands of spam messages to its customers, The Telegraph reported Wednesday.

The illegal practice has since crippled the firm’s e-mail services and resulted in thousands of customers’ emails becoming lost in its computer system.

Even worse for customers is the company’s apparent inaction regarding complaints and requests for Internet service, the report said.

I’ve been calling them frequently and every time they say engineers are working on the problem and it will be fixed in one or two days, Onetel customer Brian Vertigan said. But the days pass, and nothing changes.

The British newspaper reported that Onetel has said it is working on the problem and service improvements would be forthcoming.
