Internet Provider Cuts Service for Overuse

Internet providers have begun cutting off service for excessive downloading, which they say slows down the network for others.
So far, only Comcast is known to have punished some transgressers for overusing the Internet, The Washington Post said.
Other companies say it is a problem they are dealing without pulling the plug. But, analysts told the Post such caps could become more common as service providers try to keep up with the demand for increasingly sophisticated online entertainment.
No provider, however, will reveal how much is too much.
While Comcast wouldn't spell out specific bandwidth limits, a spokesman said in order to trigger a disconnection warning, customers would be downloading the equivalent of 1,000 songs or four full-length movies every day, the Post report said.
