MediaLink Launches Online Content Management, Distribution and Tracking Platform for Communications Professionals

Posted on: Monday, 10 September 2007, 09:00 CDT

NEW YORK, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Medialink Worldwide Incorporated today launched Mediaseed(TM), a Web-based content management platform that offers a digital suite of collaboration, archiving, distribution, publishing, and evaluation features for corporate marketing and communications professionals. By establishing a customized portal via Mediaseed's website http://www.mediaseed.tv/, clients can more easily partner with Medialink for video and rich media production and distribution services, as well as store, share and track assets employed in broadcast and Web campaigns for marketing, public relations or public affairs efforts.

Mediaseed is built upon a state-of-the-art digital asset management system that the Company deployed and integrated into its global media operations in 2006, which now becomes the "heart" of Mediaseed. With Mediaseed, Medialink clients can enter their specially-designed "Control Room," to post video and other rich media, select media distribution options, and expedite delivery of content worldwide. Clients also can access reports of video usage on television via Medialink's exclusive global television tracking service, Teletrax(TM), and view its publication on various Internet sites. Monthly client fees for Mediaseed are determined based on the amount of rich media they need to manage and by the distribution and tracking features they select.

The American Lung Association became the first official Mediaseed client, having signed a multi-year contract for asset management and digital newsroom services. Medialink already supports a number of media and public-facing websites for clients, including Bridgestone Corporation, Lanxess Corporation and Royal Philips Electronics, which contain video, audio, still images, and text that are typically distributed to broadcasters and websites digitally and via satellite.

"As a trusted health organization with a critical mission to inform and educate, we are excited to team up with the seasoned professionals of Medialink, whose proven record of technological innovation and global media expertise will help to enrich our communications strategy," stated Hallema Sharif Clyburn, Director of Media Relations for the American Lung Association. "We look forward to working with Medialink to enhance our public information efforts through the Mediaseed multimedia platform."

"Medialink is proud to partner with the American Lung Association to provide a new generation of communications tools and consultancy designed for marketing and public relations decision-makers who demand world-class client service and robust media management technology," said Larry Thomas, chief operating officer of Medialink. "From global marketers and organizations to niche businesses, clients rely on Medialink to create dynamic messages that resonate with specialized or broad audiences. Mediaseed is the platform on which Medialink's clients can effortlessly organize and track content for TV, radio and Web strategies that share the unique stories about their brands, issues and industries."

Audience interest in professionally produced Web video is on the rise. Recent estimates from digital media research firm comScore, which include passive viewing from rich media banner advertising, suggest that as much as 70% of the total U.S. Internet audience is exposed to streaming video. In its recently published study on online video, the Pew Internet & American Life Project reported that that 62% of online video viewers prefer professionally produced video over content produced by amateurs.

Medialink produces and distributes branded and fully sourced video and audio domestically and internationally to thousands of Internet sites and television and radio networks and stations on behalf of its 750 clients worldwide. In recent years, the Company has been steadily expanding its broadband distribution network by posting its clients' content on such popular sites as Yahoo!, Google, YouTube, MySpace, AOL Uncut, Metacafe, Crackle, Revver, Veoh, Vmix, and Broadcaster, and with syndicators and aggregators, such as Blinkx, Brightcove, Voxant, and Clip Syndicate.

Medialink's Internet offerings range from viral video and rich media advertisements to webcasts and "webisodes". Through its alliance with Getty Images, Medialink also offers photographic creation and distribution services.

"Strengthened by a vision that has remained unchanged for more than a century, the American Lung Association is a prime example of a truly modern organization whose fundamental communications strategy embraces evolving media tools such as Medialink's Mediaseed platform," remarked Laurence Moskowitz, president and chief executive officer of Medialink. "Communications executives have begun to realize that powerfully told stories serve as catalysts for global conversations, which, when shared regularly with transparency, can develop into lasting relationships with key stakeholders. We believe that Medialink is uniquely positioned to help marketers and professional communicators make the thousands of announcements of product launches, business mergers and acquisitions, and public advocacy initiatives issued every day even more compelling with well-crafted and precisely delivered video and audio."
